Cherry

Turkey is the most prominent cherry producer around the world. A Turkish type, Ziraat 0900 cherry, is a preferable type thanks to its long storage life, and tough, aromatic and juicy structure. This high quality the fruit possesses comes from the natural agricultural sources of the country, hot and dry summer, and cold winter conditions. Cherry is a widely grown fruit all around the country.

Cherry production in Turkey is the first among the agricultural productions where HACCP and EUREGAP standards demanded by the European supermarkets are implemented. Production in complience with this level has been on the rise worldwide. Production intended for export continues in İzmir (Kemalpaşa) in the midst of May (short stemmed), and in June- July (Ziraat 0900) with Bing Cherry (Afyon, Burdur, Isparta, Salihli). As well as raw consumption; production of Starks Gold 0900, which is industrially processed and then marketed, has been on the rise. Russia and the European Union countries are among the prominent buyers.
